Why the Mercedes-Benz GLS450?

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS450 and the 2017 Porsche Cayenne are both top-tier SUVs. We review these two luxury SUVs to see how they stack up. The 2017 Cayenne is no match for the 2017 GLS 450 Benz on performance, interior design, and special features as well as safety features.

Performance

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS450 delivers more power from a smaller engine compared to its equivalent version of the 2017 Porsche Cayenne; the Cayenne trim level S. The GLS450 has a 3.0-liter twin turbo V6 engine that is capable of delivering 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. This engine can accelerate this car from 0-60 mph in only 6 seconds. That is incredible acceleration bearing in mind the weight of this car. The 2017 Cayenne S comes with a 3.6 liter, non turbo, V6 gasoline engine that delivers 300 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Its acceleration from 0-60 mph is estimated to be 7.3 seconds.

Interior

The interiors of both cars are elegant, but GLS450 takes the day with a more spacious cabin, innovative upholstery, and a better entertainment system. The front of the 2017 Cayenne interior feels congested with a multitude of buttons and knobs and a smaller infotainment screen. The GLS450 is equipped with a COMAND® entertainment system that has a 12-inch screen and uses on screen menus for control as opposed to buttons, making the interface more refined. The MB-Tex vinyl upholstery on also feels unique and blends exceptionally with the genuine optional wood trim upgrades. The interior cabin feels more spacious and features dual three-zone climate control.

Safety

Equipped with the most current standard safety features, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS450 features crosswind stabilization, lane tracking package, and trailer stability assist. All of which are not available on the Cayenne. Other unique safety features includes the Mercedes-Benz mbrace® Connect service. This system combines convenience and safety features and delivers it in the palm of your hands.
