Serving Dublin, Columbus, Powell, Hilliard, Grove City, OH
Known for its manufacturing of high-quality vehicles that stand apart from the competition, Mercedes-Benz now offers one of the most comprehensive lines of SUV and crossover models available. Built to please the discriminating buyer and loaded with standard convenience amenities, these well-designed vehicles offer a great combination of roominess, high-tech features, and durability. Both the GLA and GLC have been redesigned over the past several years, and both fit perfectly into their respective segments when it comes to overall luxury compared with sticker price. Be sure to check out these two outstanding models in detail before making your final purchase decision.
Performance
The 2016 GLA SUV is powered by a turbocharged 2.0L, 16-valve engine that produces a total of 208 horsepower. Its direct-injection means smooth, rapid acceleration, and the turbocharger is quick to kick in when you need it most. The 7-speed automatic transmission allows for plenty of gear choices when hauling a full load of passengers and cargo.
The 2016 GLC SUV comes with a front/longitudinal-mounted 2.0L turbocharged engine that pumps out 241 horsepower. The engine is coupled to a 9-speed automatic transmission. The TouchShift manually interactive automatic transmission is a nice touch. It allows for greater driver control in all types of weather and road conditions.
Appearance
Both the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLA and GLC are designed with plenty of interior room without making the vehicle look too tall or blocky in appearance. The GLA has a large front grille and sweeping headlights that wrap around the corner of the vehicle, making it easy for cross-traffic to see it at night. Although considered a true compact SUV, the GLA is actually very roomy. Standard features include genuine wood trim, leather steering wheel and leather seats, and front power memory seats.
The larger 2016 GLC is similarly designed in outward appearance but is longer and has an even more cavernous seating area. The deep-tinted privacy glass is standard on all trim levels, and the second-row seats fold down completely if long items need to be stowed in the rear. Maximum cargo volume is a bit over 56 cubic feet, impressive for a mid-size SUV model.
Safety
Mercedes-Benz never skimps on safety and security features, and both the GLA and GLC come complete with a long list of active and passive safety technology. The GLA has driver front and passenger front-side airbags, front-row side airbags, and full-length side curtain airbags. Emergency tensioning retractors, belt force limiters, and side guard door beams are also included on every trim. The model also comes with a panic button, keyless entry, and vehicle theft tracking.
The GLC is similarly equipped and has front and rear pretensioners, a passenger airbag cutoff sensor, remote perimeter lighting, and selective power door locks. Optional features include Xenon or HID headlamps. Whichever model you choose, you'll feel safe knowing the vehicle contains the very latest in driver alert programming. The telematics system has emergency SOS, Internet services, roadside assistance, and stolen vehicle notification.
Mercedes-Benz is a name synonymous with quality engineering and innovative technology. Both the GLA and GLC models stand atop the mountain when it comes to luxury and comfort at an affordable price. If you're seriously considering an upscale crossover and want the most for the amount paid, contact our dealership and schedule a test drive of both models.
