 Performance

The GLA250 trims are powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, which pumps out 208 horsepower and 258 ft.-lbs. of torque. The top-of-the-line AMG® GLA45 goes with a handcrafted AMG® 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that produces 375 horsepower and 350 ft.-lbs. of torque. Although each engine is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, the powertrain configurations result in some variances in performance. The 0-60 mph speed of the 2016 GLA is 7.2 seconds on the GLA250, 7.1 seconds on the 4MATIC®, and 4.3 seconds on the AMG®. Also, fuel economy is measured at 25/35 mpg* on the GLA250 and 24/32 mpg* on the 4MATIC®. The 4MATIC® in particular refers to the Mercedes-Benz all-wheel drivetrain, which improves traction and gives the driver more control on the road.

 Interior

The 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLA is spacious enough to accommodate five adult occupants, and you can have up to 43.6 cubic feet of cargo space by folding the rear seats. Ambient interior lighting promotes an aura of extreme comfort, and the anthracite tone of the standard dash trim brings sporty refinement to the cabin. The driver sits on a seat with 14-way power adjustability and four-way power lumbar support, and moves the vehicle with a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel with a leather-wrapped rim for ultimate control.

Anchored by a large 7-inch color display and a central controller, the eight-speaker stereo system on the 2016 GLA provides AM/FM radio, CD player with MP3 and WMA playback, HD Radio technology, Bluetooth®** for hands-free phone calling and streaming audio, and steering-wheel controls. Also standard on the GLA are dual-zone automatic temperature control, remote keyless entry, and an emergency communication system. Optional on the SUV are features like in-car Wi-Fi hotspot for wireless Internet connectivity, a 12-speaker harman/kardon® Logic 7®*** sound system, SiriusXM satellite radio, and GPS navigation with an 8-inch color touchscreen display and 80 GB hard drive.

 Safety

The 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLA comes with an advanced airbag system that offers 10-way occupant protection. It consists of dual front impact airbags, front seat-mounted side impact airbags, dual front knee airbags, and roof-mounted side curtain airbags for both seating rows. Also standard are electronic stability control, all-wheel disc brakes with anti-lock braking system (ABS), brake assist, an electronic parking brake, radar-based collision prevention and attention assist systems. You can choose to add more advanced safety features, such as lane departure warning, parking assist, adaptive cruise control, and rearview camera system. For extra security, the GLA comes with an electronic theft-deterrent system accompanied by a panic alarm.
